Episode 48: OG Chino & Dread Daze
UNSEEN LEGION RADIO has a strong commitment to preserving and spreading knowledge of Los Angeles hip-hop history. And so it was our great honor to host BIN GRIM's big honors OG CHINO, former co-owner of B-Boy Records and his lifelong friend NAJASHI, lead singer of the incredible reggae band, DREAD DAZE. We talked about his Korean/Colombian origins, his upbringing in the mean streets and how he was another of those whom hip-hop saved from a brutal (and possibly short) life. Chino is a staple in the L.A. hip-hop community, having worked with Def American, managed Kool Keith and Large Professor, among others, and having even run East Village Radio in New York for a short while before returning to L.A. YESKI couldn't join us, but Chino also carries much graf clout, too.The OG even got on the decks with his Serrato setup and gave us a taste of classic L.A. DJ Stylee in a special set dedicated to Bin Grim.
