Utilizing freedom of Information requests, wikileaks and over 50 original interviews, Sprague is able to get answers about the development of the Haitian paramilitaries from the rise of Haiti's first democratically elected leader Bertrand Aristide, through the American sponsored coup in 2004 through to the earthquake of two years ago. A PH d candidate in sociology, he has also received a most censored award for a 2008 article he co-wrote with a Haitian based journalist.
