With updated facts and even more stories of organizing and resistance both in and beyond womenâs prisons, the new edition of âResistance Behind Bars: The Struggles of Incarcerated Womenâ is here! Laura Whitehorn, Tina Reynolds and Mercedes Smith have shared their personal stories of organizing and resistance both in and beyond their prison sentences for the second edition. They will join author Victoria Law in sharing their stories and successes as we celebrate the release of the new edition. Vikki Law is a co-founder of Books Through BarâNYC, a long-time volunteer at ABC No Rio and a proud member of WORTHâs Sister Circle. She is also the author of the zine âTenacious: Art & Writings from Women in Prison.â Tina Reynolds is the co-founder and co-chair of WORTH (Women on the Rise Telling HerStory), a NYC-based organization of formerly and currently incarcerated women, and a co-editor of âInterrupted Life: Experiences of Incarcerated Women in the United States.â Mercedes Smith is the policy specialist for WORTH, a mother, and a formerly incarcerated woman. Laura Whitehorn is a former political prisoner and the editor of Safiya Bukhariâs âThe War Before: The True Life Story of Becoming a Black Panther, Keeping the Faith in Prison, and Fighting for Those Left Behind.â
