THE CASE AGAINST GEORGE ZIMMERMAN, WHO, AFTER A MONTH OF NATIONAL PROTEST, WAS ARRESTED 10 DAYS AGO AND CHARGED WITH THE SECOND DEGREE MURDER OF TRAYVON MARTIN , TOOK AN ODD TURN SATURDAY WHEN HE PUBLICLYAPOLOGIZED TO THE PARENTS OF THE TEEN AT HIS BAIL HEARING AND HAD HIS BAIL REDUCED BY THE JUDGE.
WHILE THE UPCOMING TRIAL IS CERTAIN TO FURTHER POLARIZE THE NATION, THE ARGUMENT THAT TRAYVON MARTIN WAS ONLY ONE OF A GROWING NUMBER OF YOUNG BLACKS VICTIMIZED BY A RACIST SYTEM IS STILL NOT A POPULAR NOTION.
YESTERDAY, AROUND TWO HUNDRED ACTIVISTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS JOINED OCCUPY HARLEM TO MARCH AND RALLY AROUND 125TH STREET TO DENOUNCE THE NYPDS STOP AND FRISK POLICY AND THE CLIMATE OF RACIAL PROFILING WHICH THEY SAY AMOUNTS TO ARBITRARY STATE REPRESSION.
