I spoke with Adam after he successfully negotiated an ambulance into President Arafat's compound. He was the only international (non-Palestinian in the compound). A US citizen with the International Solidarity Movement (which joins Palestinians & Internationals), Adam spent Friday being a "human shield" for ambulances attempting to get past Israeli soldiers ("We spoke to them in English, explained why we were foreigners here, and after three hours it worked").

I spoke with Heather about the work of the Palestine-IMC and the reaction to their attempts to get the word out as soon as possible.

IMMEDIATE INTERNATIONAL INTERVENTION REQUESTED
American citizen Adam Shapiro is pleading for immediate international intervention to help him and the others who are trapped in the Presidential compound in Ramallah. The Israeli military in not allowing UN ambulances onto the compound to help the injured. We have faxed American diplomat Aaron Miller and various news services including Reuters, AP, CNN, ABC, CBS and the New York Times.
