September 29 - The Squaring-off of Dissent (11:16) After running food and supplies for Seeds of Peace on Saturday morning, I arrived at the demonstration downtown with green apples in hand. By the time I arrived, the Anti-Capitalist march had already been surrounded by the police. I walked up to the intersection of 15th and K an found a line of police that was no where near the hundreds of demonstrators who had gathered for the anti-capitalist march. Ziggy and I decided to move up a side street to get closer to the demonstration so we could deliver the apples. At an intersection near 18th and K, we were told by the police that the street was closed. We walked up one more block and turned back down an alley which lead to a driveway between 17th and 18th leading to K street. We came out of the driveway and stood behind a very tense line of police. At this time, the protesters that had been surrounded were being moved through a park and onto K street. This is when I turned my microphone on . . . The first sound that you hear is an officer behind me shoving a club into my back, pushing me forward. One moment I was standing with Ziggy and the next I was pushed between two lines of police. I was there with a legal observer who I directed to the two officers that pushed me between the police lines. You can then hear me say to her, "I
