I had a suitcase and the address of a group of Haitian nuns in the countryside, outside the town of Pandiassou, not terribly far from the Dominican border and please don’t tell me that boring factoid about how you can see the line between the two countries from the air because the Haitian side is so deforested because I’ve flown all over this country and I’ve seen plenty of lines on the ground that mark boundaries of ecological devastation and nobody ever seems to get all tsk-tsk about that...."
