Labor in 2009, a result of Corporate greed
Maggie Hughes Producer, Bill Ferguson, Jim Chambers
Labor Day September 2009

Corporate America is treating Canada like a 3rd world country – just another source of raw material and fresh water.

Neither Canadian or American workers will benefit by allowing a “buy U.S. only policy” leaving Steel Workers in Nanticoke shut out of their steel plant, while American made steel comes into Canada for the auto makers.

In Canada we are still in a class system according to media professor Jim Chambers.
He says that the students he teaches won't have a job in their field of study. Not unless they want to work for free in the “alternative” media or make independent documentaries.

When Corporations make the job policies by their demands, all workers lose out.. and more. In these days of rapid climate change we are risking our very lives, not just our lifestyles.

If it were not for independent documentaries, we would not know the extent of climate change, and the damage caused by the Tar Oil and pipeline system that carries that Oil from Canada to the U.S.

Even the hundreds of windmills now dotting the shorelines of Lake Erie are sending over 70% of that energy to the U.S. Why can't the Canadian side of Lake Ontario be used for wind energy and the American side of Lake Erie be used to supply the U.S.?

We will not be ready for the change over to a none fossil fuel when it comes crashing into our lives, if we stand back and allow the worst of Canada's Oil to continue to add more co2 into the atmosphere. The change will be much faster than any study has anticipated, and the damage may be far more than we can recover from.

Stephen Harper is selling Canadians out by continuing with the Tar Sands, and Obama is helping to sell out the world's last chance, if he allows the States to continue to depend upon fossil fuels.

The rest of us that do follow independent news, can only hope that the December meeting in Copenhagen Denmark finally opens the eyes of the leaders of both countries.

Gwynne Dyers book “Climate Wars”, shows us what is coming if they don't. The American military has been watching and making use of what Oil, difficult to obtain, but still accessible is left. It is the reason Afghanistan is still being fought.

And the Super Highway is marching ever further up the Middle of North America.
