A classic audio collage by Virtual Renderings. An intriguing and sometimes rocking blend of satire, music, and also analysis by several voices (among them Richard Wolff's). It explores the economic problems of our time--falling wages, consumer debt, overwork, unemployment, decline of manufacturing, corrupt politicians, crooked banks and bankers, soaring corporate profits, and stratospheric executive salaries ... among others.
I have slightly condensed the original audio collage--mostly by shortening some of the musical selections. The original (titled "Capital Games") is available on radio4all.net.

New World Notes is produced under the auspices (Latin for "sheltering sky") of WWUH-FM, a community service of that beacon of light in darkest Connecticut, the University of Hartford.
Previously broadcast. Files downloaded from the links, below, may be identified as NWN #371.

This installment is available--in MP3 and other formats--also on The Internet Archive (www.archive.org). The page with the download links is here: https://archive.org/download/NewWorldNotes371-WorkDebtAndCrisispart1

Details, photos, nice links, & other good stuff at the show's Web site: https://newworldnotes.blogspot.com . Also, radio4all.net has each show from May 2008.

SERIES OVERVIEW -- Political and social commentary in a variety of genres. Exploring the gap between what we want ... and what they're trying to make us settle for. "Date recorded," below, = date of first scheduled broadcast.
