Despite the unconfirmed nature of reports of a chemical weapons incident in Douma, Trump has declared he'll decide unilaterally on a course of action in Syria, even though the USA has no legal standing in that country.
The chemical weapons accusation, propounded by groups with an interest in maintaining the Western military intervention in Syria, coincides not accidentally with Trumps' stated desire to pull US troops out of Syria.
