Martian Gardens is a weekly program of modern classical, experimental, electronic, electroacoustic, noise, and eclectic music from around the world.
This week we start with noise and electroacoustic music from Lee Noyes, J.C. Combs, Philip Perkins, Philip Corner, and Adrian Moore. We also hear music for piano and electronic sounds with pieces from the late Israeli composer Josef Tal, and the Argentinian-born composer Mario Davidovsky. Choral music from Orlando Jacinto Garcia rounds out the first hour, while orchestral music from fellow Cuban Tania Leon starts the second. A roller coaster of sound defines the next set with minimalist piano music from David Mahler, and percussion ensemble music from Iannis Xenakis. Henry Brant's spatial music from "Autumn Hurricanes," and an excerpt from Luigi Nono's anxious philosophical composition for ensemble and electronic processing, "Woe Betide Icy Monsters" follows Brant's sonic tempest, and Heiner Goebbel's "City of Last Things" for narration and orchestra concludes this edition of Martian Gardens with atonal orchestra music and readings from Paul Auster's dystopian novel the same name. As always the Martian Gardens playlists are available at martiangardens.blogspot.com. Next week and thereafter MG on Radio4All will run a full three hours.
