Hard-hitting investigative journalism led by Neela Banerjee of InsideClimate News reveals oil company Exxon knew their products helped power climate change. Their own scientists told top executives in the early 1970's. Exxon equipped a super-tanker to measure carbon in the world's oceans in the early 1980's.
So why did Exxon lead the charge, with the misleading "Global Climate Coalition" - to give millions of dollars to official-sounding "Institutes" who denied climate change was real, or that humans were causing it.
Joel K. Bourne is a top author for National Geographic magazine. His new book is ""The End of Plenty, The Race to Feed a Crowded World"." In the end, we are headed toward a collision between not enough food in a climate-damaged world and an unsupportable human population. Nobody wins.
In anticipation of next week's Radio Ecoshock interview with the venerable biologist Paul Ehrlich, I run a short clip where Paul describes the cherished animals that will disappear in our lifetime. Tune in next week for our personal chat and his new book ""The Annihilation of Nature - Human Extinction of Birds and Mammals".
Terence McKenna explains what I've always wanted to know: "Why Most People Are Idiots". It's a clip form a longer collection, set to music. A counter-culture guru, McKenna died in 2000.
Canadian singer Diana Lindley has her vision and song out: "Love-A-Lution". In the Affiliates version we listen to a clip. The full song is in the 1 hour version of Radio Ecoshock.
