Since the Spanish Civil War, Canada has had a law on the books banning recruitment in foreign armies. The only exception is recruitment by foreign power of their own citizens in Canada.

But in June 2020, the Israeli Consulate in Toronto organized a celebration of Canadians serving in the Israeli Defense Forces. In addition, an Israeli soldier spoke at a Jewish parochial school in Toronto to encourage students to join the IDF.

The Canadian Foreign Policy Institute, PAJU, and Just Peace Advocates have joined together to demand that the Canadian government / RCMP take action to stop this illegal recruitment.
