This archival program by TUC Radio about Dangers of the Militarization of Space is designed to follow last weekâs commentary on Donald Trumps launch of the Space Force, the first new US military service in more than 70 years. At several ceremonies on and around December 27, 2019, Trump declared that ânow space is the worldâs new war-fighting domain.â And that the US would seek dominance in space. This talk was part of a two day symposium on The Dynamics of Nuclear Extinction, organized by antinuclear campaigner Helen Caldicott in 2015.
In 2017 Helen Caldicott edited a book with material from the Symposium, entitled Sleepwalking to Armageddon: The Threat of Nuclear Annihilation. And this talk by Bruce Gagnon is one of the chapters.
Bruce Gagnon is the coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space. Thatâs an international organization he co-founded in 1992. They have an over two decades record of education and activism on a rarely covered topic, the Weaponization of Space.
