Political economist Yash Tandon discusses the growing fissures and fractures in the U.S.-dominated global economy. The U.S. increasingly relies on coercive measures, such as sanctions, trade wars, and abuse of "intellectual property rights" to maintain its pre-eminence.
Yet it's still on its way out. China's economic rise is providing a counterweight to America's 'New World Order,' especially for Africans. NATO's imperial overreach in Libya provided a wake-up call to African leaders. The countries of the Global South are coming to recognize the need to unite, despite differences, and resist the economic diktat of U.S./European imperialism.
