Taking stories and ballads that date back to the fifteenth and early sixteenth century, Pollard examines the Robin Hood legend in the economic, social and political context of the time. Westminster Abbey nuclear service condemned by 200 clerics 01 May 2019 - A statement which calls on the Dean of Westminster Abbey to âurgently reconsiderâ a planned National Service of Thanksgiving for Britainâs nuclear weapons system has been signed by 194 Anglican clerics. The statement, co-ordinated by Christian CND, says the Westminster Abbey service to mark 50 years of Britainâs Continuous At Sea Deterrent should be cancelled because it is at odds with the Church of Englandâs policy to âwork tirelesslyâ for the elimination of nuclear weapons.
