RIP Medical Debt! As medical costs rise to unspeakable levels, so does un-payable medical debt, but we can stop the hemorrhaging and save the patient.
with
Co-Founder and Director/Education and Outreach RIP Medical Debt Jerry Aston
and
comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host John Oliver

Medical debt has destroyed the financial stability of large segments of Americas most vulnerable communities: the sick, the elderly, the poor, and veterans. It also particularly targets the middle class, driving many families who are barely getting along into poverty.

1 in 5 people living in the U.S. are grappling with medical debt;

Nearly 50% of all credit card debt in the US is from medical debt;

Medical debt contributes to 60% of all bankruptcies in America; and

More than 40% of Americans wouldnt be able to cover an emergency expense of $400

Now the story of the amazing Charity, RIP Medical Debt, which has quietly worked over its 4+ years in existence to accept public donations with which to go to the debt market to purchase over $500,000,000 (a half-billion!) in unpaid and unpayable medical debt only to forgive those debts. RIPs intention for 2019 is to abolish ONE BILLION DOLLARS in such debt. And, now theyre going public, by way of End Medical Debt, to equip every one of us with the education and tools we need to end medical debt once and for all.
