Fran De Ath was one of the original Greenham Common anti-nuclear protesters in the 1980s who, as part of a CND initiative, wanted to draw attention to Cruise Missiles being brought into the UK by the United States. While CND lobbied she and other women took direct action against the RAF base in Berkshire which was being used by the United States Air Force. Fran ended up going to Moscow to discuss disarmament and strategic issues with Russian peace activists and was invited to speak with senior officers in the British military too. Fran Meir also went to Greenham Common, but only for a few weeks after seeing it on the TV.
